Marionettes are string puppets, which have traditions dating back centuries. I wanted my marionette characters to use traditional fairy tale themes, yet have a bright modern look. They are string puppets with a modern classic feel. Currently, there are seven marionettes in the series. I designed the marionette theater specifically for this series of marionettes but it can be used with other string puppets of similar scale. The average height of one of my marionettes is about 10 inches. The theatre is not suitable for hand puppets.

As toys, marionettes can be intimidating. The tangled mess that some marionettes get into, can scare you from even picking one up.

I design my marionettes specifically to avoid this problem. Firstly, I limited all my puppets as few strings as possible - just four strings in most cases. Secondly, I came up with a handle design that is exclusive to my marionettes. It's a color-coded handle with a ball and socket mechanism that allows the string to pop out easily when necessary so the strings stay tangle-free. The Marionettes are made of durable soft and hard plastic and have a rugged construction.
